Project Advisor: Dan Pejril
Artist Bio:
Kieran Kelly grew up in Bernardsville, New Jersey and was fond of cartoons since he was a child. The enjoyment that Kieran had for animation led him to decide he wanted to pursue a career in that field. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in the University of Connecticut where he majored in Digital Media and Design with a concentration in 3D Animation. Throughout his time at UConn, Kieran learned the process of how 3D animations are made and gained knowledge of modeling, rigging, and animating a 3D character along with detailing a scene with lighting and adding simulations. Kieran hopes to use the skills he used to get a job and build a career in the animation industry and create animated works that bring him as much enjoyment as the ones that he used to watch when he was younger.
Statement:
My project, titled “Mouse House Maze”, is a 3D animated short about a mouse in a suburban home who notices that, in the kitchen, there is a pie on the stove and a crack in the wall nearby that will allow him to get to it. The mouse goes into his mouse hole and ventures throughout the house’s crawl space to get to the specific hole near the stove. But there are multiple holes in the home’s wall and he has to go through multiple ones before he finds the correct one. The short will have a 3 minute runtime and will be made using Cinema 4D, 3D Coat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Premiere Pro. The short is influenced by the cartoon series “Tom and Jerry” and will have a cartoonish style with slapstick and be animated using squash and stretch.
